Yardimli city

Yardimli was registered as Vardaguz region since 1930 until 1938. Since 1938 it had been administrative region of Azerbaijan as Yardimli region. According to B.Budaghov’s conception Yardimli region consists of the name of pecheng kins, and “ly” suffix denoting place. The pechengs were noted in aincient sources as erdym/erdem and had lived between Ural-Volga Rivers since the end of VIII century. They participated in the migration of gipchags from Northern Caucasus to Azerbaijan in XII-XIII centuries. According to suppositions of investigators erdim kins come to Azerbaijan with pechengs at the same time. Yardimli symbol is explained in Sufism as Yar-Adem and these symbols are considered as the most powerful symbols in Egyptian writings.Yardimli region is located in the south-east of Azerbaijan, mountainous territory. The region has borders with Iran –Islamic Republic in the west, Lerik in the south, Masalli in the east and Jalilabad in the north. The Vilash River divides the region into two parts from the centre. It fascinates the person for its beauty and many coloured nature. A great part of territory of region is covered by forests. A beautiful nature, rivers, springs and a lot of historical monuments of these places give a special beauty to Yardimli. The region has a rich fauna. There are wolf, jackal, boar, bear and some other kinds of animal here. The territory of the region mainly has 4 kinds of different type and half type land cover, such as typical and scoured dark-brown mountain-forest soils, brown soils, and grassy mountain-meadow soils, typical and carbonate dark-brown soils covers. As the territory of the region did not undergo ice covering relict and endemic tree species are rich, such as azat (nile tree), iron tree, chestnut leafy oak and one eyed, zarghin. In this region ancient national art – carpet making traditions are reserved. In administrative centre of the region - Yardimli city, there are stone lie streets, the building what bear interest for its architecture, historical museum, a little mosque and a memorial monument devoted to the martyrs who was killed in the wars. In this territory of the region we can come across frequently to pitcher graves concerning to the terms beginning form IV century until applying of Islam. A huge pitcher what was found in Dallakli village of the region in 1962, is considered a rare in our country for its uniqueness. A pitcher grave what was erected near the Yolojag village is ascribed to IV century B.C. different spatial objects are described on the things which were found in the pitcher graves. It proves the people worshiped to fire and to the sun in the millenniums of BC. The fighting, daily and working tools, which were erected from the same resembling pitcher graves, inform that the previous residents of Yardimli had high culture, too. The territory of this region, whose ancient and modern people consists of absolutely Oghuz Turks, is also polygon of underground resources. The springs trickling down from the rocks of Yardimli territory, mainly consist of mineral water including hydrogen-sulphide, sodium-sulphate, sulphate-carbonate. This region what connects four of existing eleven climate zone, is specific for mild semi dessert, mild hot, cold semi dessert dry steppe climates. At present time, the highest age degree in Yardimli, is between 80-90.
