It was established in the square near the building of the Russian embassy in the early seventies. The sculptor is M. Rzayeva and the architect is Sh. Zeynalov. In summer of 2002, during the rehabilitation works of the square, the monument itself has also undergone reconstruction. Fountains of original design have been installed on the either side of the monument. Sevil Gaziyeva (1.6.1940-23.9.1963) – was the first woman machine operator in the Azerbaijan SSR. Sevil worked as a tractor operator, a driver of a cotton combine, the foreman of tractor operators in one of the state farms of Mil steppe. By her appeal, more than 600 girls chose the profession of a machine operator for themselves. She was the deputy of the Supreme Board of АzSSR. Sevil Gaziyeva died tragically at the young age. The tractor on which she worked, conflagrated and she salvaged the field from fire at the cost of her life. She was awarded with the rank of the Hero of the Socialist Labor after her death.
