History MuseumHistory Museum of Sumgait opened in 1967. Since 1988 the museum has its own two-storey building. Museum building has a specially designed assembly hall with a capacity of 165 seats for holding mass events, expositions, lectures, and exhibition halls. There are about 15 thousand exhibits in the fund of the museum. These exhibits were placed in separate sections – scientific-subsidiary funds for dancing, graphics, sculpture, applied art products, archeological items, photographs, documents and etc. Exposition of the museum is formed in the large and small halls. Capital reconstruction of History Museum of Sumgait was carried out in 2008. A corner dedicated to the memory of Heydar Aliyev was created in exposition hall on first floor and bust of the national leader made with mastery, the collection of documents, photographs, newspapers and journal related to his Sumgait visits are demonstrated. In the exposition hall, there are symbolic tree describing the creation and development of Sumgait – a monument dedicated to Thermal Power Station, the first enterprise in Sumgait, a branch of Ancient Silk Way – a maquette depicting the area of Sumgait, a corner composed of earthenware and copperware, a painting work named “Sumgait in XXI century”. In the large exposition hall of the second floor, information, objects, documents, photos about construction, building works, the first enterprises, factories, plants, education, health and cultural centers, leading workers are demonstrated. Furthermore, in this hall room-maquettes are installed to demonstrate way of living of the people of Jorat village and daily life of builders of Sumgait. In the small exposition hall, there are corners dedicated to martyrs of Sumgait, National Heroes from Sumgait, “Ulduz Akhini” (Star Flow) memorial and painting works devoted to martyrs.
