Memorial monument of participants of the Great Patriotic War in 1941-1945 ("Mother" statue) – the monument was created on the occasion of the Azerbaijani people victory over fascism in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. The main part of the monument consists of female statue. It symbolizes the Mother. Bas-relief consisting of copies Soviet soldiers was built on the semicircular wall behind the statue. Surrounding the monument was renovated and small park built. Every year on May 9 Victory Day over Fascism the monument is regularly visited by the general public and intellectuals and a bunch of flowers are put on it. In 2010, the monument was repaired. On the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the victory over fascism the "Mother" memorial was opened after renovation. Representatives of the public and veterans laid flowers at the monument and honored the memory of our compatriots who died in the war. In the Great Patriotic War more than 600 thousand sons and daughters of our people were participated, about half of them were killed. 6000 people from Gabala region took part in the war and only 3000 of them returned home. At present, the 39 participants of the Great Patriotic War are alive.
