Bibi Heybat SepulcherAccording to religious legends, during the rule of Harun ar-Rashid (786-809), a discord rose between him and eighth Shiite imam Ali ibn Musa-ar Rza. The caliph was persecuting the imam and his family, so the imam was forced to abandon Baghdad with his family, relatives and adherents. For some reasons the relatives separated from one another on the road. Imam Rza went to Sanabad village near Khurasan city of Iran. Sister of imam Hokuma with her servant Heybat and several people came to the proximity of Baku. They settled down there. After the death of Hokuma khanum, a sepulcher was built over her grave. This sepulcher was built n IX century. According to the Muslim rules, women could not be called with their names. As Heybat was addressing his khanum as “Bibi” (aunt), the sepulcher was named “Bibiheybat”, i.e. “aunt of Heybat”. The sepulcher was regarded as a sacred place and travelers, pilgrims, pious people pilgrimaged this place. Some of them settled down in the place, later on Sheykhlar or Shikhlar (Sheikhs) village was founded.
