The tomb of Hadji Murad – In woods where old oaks grow, there is a tomb of Hadji Murad, military leader served for sheikh Shamil. The tomb is located nearby Tangyt village, in the end of the narrow mountain track passing through gardens of a wood hazel grove (it leads to village Bajdarly). On the tombstone established over its tomb it is written in Arabic: «The great martyr of Avar nationality Hadji Murad Hunzahsky is buried here». According to legends, if to visit Hadji Murad’s tomb, to put a hand on a gravestone and to ask Allah for anything that you wish, the desire will be executed for the sake of spirit of this servant of Allah, faced a deceit and treachery. Hadji Murad (XIX century) is one of great leaders of the people of the North Caucasus, coming from the Dagestan village Hunzah. He is of Avar nationality. He is the protagonist of Lev Tolstoy’s work with the same name.
