Bakikhanov (Samed bek Mehmandarov)Abbasgulu Agha Bakikhanov was born on June 21, 1794 to a rich family in Amirjan village near Baku city. He served in the Imperial Russian Army through 1820-30s, participated in the signing of Turkmenchay Treaty as a translator. With “Golestan-e Eram” he founded the historiography in Azerbaijan. The statue of historian, poet and enlightener Abbasgulu Agha Bakikhanov was erected in 2011. The statue is located in the park named after this historical figure in Bakikhanov settlement, Sabunchu district.
